Simple skincare is better skincare
One of the biggest problems with modern skincare is complexity. Most routines involve five, six, or even ten products — many of which contain synthetic fragrances, preservatives, and emulsifiers that can irritate or sensitise skin over time. Tallow skincare takes the opposite approach: fewer ingredients, done exceptionally well.
Here's how to build a tallow-based routine that actually works.
Step 1: Cleanse with tallow soap
Start with a Tallow Soap that cleans without stripping. Unlike most commercial soaps — which are technically detergents — tallow soap lathers gently and leaves a thin layer of nourishing fat on the skin rather than removing every trace of your skin's natural oils.
How to use it: Wet your face or body, lather the soap between your hands, apply gently, and rinse. That's it. No toner needed to "rebalance" your skin afterwards.
Step 2: Moisturise with tallow cream
After cleansing and while your skin is still slightly damp, apply a small amount of Tallow Cream. A little goes a long way — you only need a pea-sized amount for the face, slightly more for body areas.
Why damp skin? Tallow helps lock in moisture. Applying it to slightly damp skin helps seal in that extra hydration before it evaporates.
How often? Morning and night is a good starting point, but many people find they need to apply less frequently over time as their skin barrier strengthens.
Step 3: Adjust as you go
Everyone's skin is different. Some people find tallow alone is all they need; others like to use it as a spot treatment for dry patches or after sun exposure. Start simple and add only what you actually need.
Who is this routine best for?
This approach works particularly well for people with:
- Dry or very dry skin
- Sensitive skin that reacts to fragrances or synthetic ingredients
